Phil Zorich, Daniel Shively, and and Harrison Wick

Daniel Shively, a librarian at ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµ, has donated a deed dated 1808 to the ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµ Libraries Special Collections and University Archives.

The deed was issued to his great-great-great-grandfather Daniel Shively and is signed by President Thomas Jefferson and future President James Madison. Madison signed the deed as secretary of state. The property was located near Cincinnati.

Shively has been a faculty member in the ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµ Libraries since 1963.

The deed is a welcome addition to the ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµ Special Collections and University Archives, said Dr. Phillip Zorich, interim dean of the ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµ Libraries. The ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµ Special Collections and University Archives Department hosts and organizes items related to the history of ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµ, Pennsylvania, and rare books.
